👀 What was changed
You can now get the Shook platform notifications delivered to you & your organization in Slack. We also released Reminders, which lists pending review tasks for your company on a Slack channel of your choice.
How to set up Slack notifications
For individual users, setting up notifications:
- Navigate to User settings > Connections to authorize Shook to access your Slack account
- In User settings > Notifications, you can select in detail what kind of notifications you want to receive
- There’s also an option to receive these messages on a Slack channel (they are sent as private messages by default)
How to set up company Reminders
For companies, setting up reminders:
-
In Company settings > Connections, you can authorize Shook to access your Slack organization
- Access Company settings by clicking the cog icons ⚙️ on the top-right corner, or on the Shook app front page
-
In Company settings > Reminders, you can select on which channel Shook sends the reminders
- A reminder message will be sent to this Slack channel from Monday to Friday at 07:00 London time, listing any pending review requests for the company
- Two notifications with same message will be de-duplicated

💭 Why
- Notifications are better received and managed on the channels that our users do their daily work on
- Quicker reaction times to notifications help speed up creative productions
- Everybody wins when productions finish earlier 😊
- Reminders of pending tasks, surfaced to the wider company audience, help remove bottlenecks and blockers in the process
⚠️ Limitations / caveats
- The 07:00 London time was chosen as a quick middle ground – give feedback if someone wants to adjust that time, to accommodate other time zones
