👀 What was changed

In the Shook platform, commenting now supports Markdown. This means that text can be formatted with e.g. bold text, italics, underlines, strikethroughs, …

• bulleted lists

1. numbered lists

… and headings. You can read more about Markdown’s capabilities here.

Additionally, we format timestamps in a special way: write 0:12 in a comment and we highlight it. Hover your cursor on it, and we show what exact video module this comment references to. (Only works if individual Scenes are uploaded.)

We now also automatically make links clickable.

💭 Why

This allows people to convey their thoughts better:

• highlight important parts of the comment, make it more readable
• ability to see in one glance what part of the video the timestamp refers to

⚠️ Limitations / caveats

The markdown editor is still not in use universally in the platform. In other words, it works in some places and not everywhere. We are working on changing all text fields in the app to support it.
